Registrations, Memberships, and Room Reservations for SSS 2024

Good day SSSers!

You’ve seen President Gayle Kaufman’s exciting and important theme, “Disrupting Binaries” – charging us to engage in a sociology that dismantles biases, structures, and laws that do harm to people.

You’ve seen the Preliminary Program for our 87th annual meeting of the Southern Sociological Society – masterfully assembled from your submissions by Program Co-Chairs Hiromi Taniguchi, D’Lane Compton, and their Program Committee.

You’ve seen that SSS 2024 will take place at the Sheraton New Orleans from April 3-6, 2024 – where we will gather, in our favorite SSS city, New Orleans, to share research, see old friends, and meet new colleagues.

Now, in order to maintain the health and vibrancy of SSS and to ensure an amazing annual meeting, I am writing to you today to encourage you to renew your membership and register for the meetings. All those whose names appear on the Program must do both. You can do both directly in your SSS Member Portal HERE. Those who register before March 1st will pay lower registration fees than those who register after March 1st.

I also want to remind SSSers that booking within our contracted hotel block at the Sheraton New Orleans is quite important to the fiscal health of our organization, our ability to have the kind of meeting we wish to have, and our future prospects of contracting spaces that work for SSS and our meetings together each year. Please go in and book your room now. If we do not fill our contracted room block, the fiscal consequences for SSS are great. You can book your room HERE

As I embark on my 13th SSS annual meeting as Executive Officer, I am ever so thankful for this amazing group of colleagues and the rich sociologies we celebrate together when we meet at our annual meeting.

Registrations, memberships, and room reservations – oh my indeed!

Let’s do this!

Peace.

David L. Brunsma

SSS Executive Officer
