About the Society

Established in 1935, the Southern Sociological Society promotes the development of sociology as a profession and scientific discipline through high academic standards, effective teaching, rigorous research, and the diffusion of sociological knowledge.

We are committed to building a diverse, welcoming, and inclusive association. SSS embraces members across many dimensions of identity, background, and career stage, and actively works to ensure equitable practices and full participation.
