South-Eastern Undergraduate Sociology Symposium (SEUSS)

We are excited to share the call for papers (attached) for the 44th annual South-Eastern Undergraduate Sociology Symposium (SEUSS), which will take place on February 27th and 28th at Emory University. This event, which is co-sponsored by Morehouse College, is a fantastic opportunity for undergraduates to gain experience presenting their original sociological research.

The event will begin with a banquet dinner on Friday, February 27th, where Emory alumnus Steven Foy, Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, will give the keynote address on “The Enduring Promise of Sociology.” The symposium will then take place on Saturday, February 28.

Please encourage your undergraduate students to submit their papers to SEUSS! Papers that they wrote in a class are eligible, as long as either data analysis or theoretical exploration is involved. Co-authored work is also eligible. The application deadline is February 6th at midnight.

Students can submit their abstract and (optionally) a full draft of the paper via this form: https://forms.gle/4GzUSLLcydaCry8s5.

Students who submit a full paper draft will be considered for one of the three Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Research.
