SSS 2025 Submission Deadline Extended until Nov. 13th

SSSers,

As the deadline for submitting abstracts and panels for our annual meeting in Charlotte, NC, approaches, we are excited by the response to President Dawn Robinson’s theme of “Sociology of the Future and the Future of Sociology”!

We recognize that organizing sessions and clarifying presentations involves time, imagination, and energy; therefore we are extending the deadline until Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, at 11:59pm EST.

For those of you who are still turning over ideas, you now have a few more days to roll out those papers and sessions!

We hope you will join us for this important and innovative conference.

The Future of JEDI on Our Campuses: Mini Conference

The SSS JEDI Committee is seeking papers, recent authors, and workshop panelists for the Future of JEDI on Our Campuses Mini Conference. This mini conference will center on the recent attempts by state and local governments to diminish, defund, and eliminate a presence of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion offices on our college campuses. In addition, we will prioritize and highlight resistance strategies that both faculty and students have attempted in the journey to keep equity a priority on our campuses. We seek panelists to discuss their own work and stories about the attack on JEDI, authors and curious readers with recent publications broadly related to JEDI, and workshop panelists who wish to share strategies and stories that have been successful in our collective mission to have more equitable campuses.

If you are interested in participating in this session, please submit a short abstract to Joanna Hunter (jhunter35@radford.edu) or Dresden Lackey (lackeydn@wofford.edu), Co-Chairs of the SSS JEDI Committee. In your submission, please include the author names, email addresses, and affiliations, the title of your panel/paper/workshop, and a short description of your panel by November 12th.
