The Sociology Program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio invites applicants for a tenure-track position as assistant professor who specializes in US/Mexico border studies with a focus on immigrant communities beginning Fall 2023. Secondary areas of specialty should include one of the following health inequality, demography, gender and sexuality, or political sociology. Candidates’ whose scholarship draws on intersectional frameworks will be strongly considered. Women and people of color are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to regularly teach research methods and have interest in teaching future graduate level courses in their areas of specialization. A highly qualified candidate will demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of student-centered learning, community engagement, working with majority Latinx student populations, and principles of diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Ph.D. preferred but ABD applicants are welcome. Teaching load is a 3/3 with a course release in both semesters of the first year and possibility for summer teaching.
