Job Opportunity: Assistant Professor of Sociology, Mercer University

The Department of Sociology at Mercer University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2022.  Applicants should specialize in global & transnational sociology.  The teaching load is 3/4.  The Department is interested in candidates with experience teaching globalization and urban ecology, as well as, gender, race, research methods, and/or social problems.  Applicants should be interested in developing strong mentoring relationships with undergraduate students and including them in the fulfillment of an active research agenda.  Mercer University provides strong support for faculty travel and research, including the scholarship of teaching and learning.


A Ph.D. in sociology is required, but exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date before August 2022 will also be considered.  Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully teach introductory sociology and courses within their area of specialization in the context of a college with a solid liberal arts mission.
