Meredith College invites teacher/scholars who are actively engaged in advancing equity and inclusion in their research, teaching, and/or service for the position of Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminology, a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2022.
Candidates will be expected to teach courses in criminology and research methods and to support both Criminology and Sociology majors. Candidates will also be expected to regularly teach introduction to sociology and supervise undergraduate thesis projects. Preference will be given to candidates who possess research experience in the criminology field and/or experience mentoring undergraduate research projects.
Additional teaching assignments will be made in accordance with the successful candidate’s expertise. Examples of current electives include (but are not limited to) Gender and Crime, Corrections, and Deviance and Society. In addition to instructional assignments, all department faculty are expected to be productive as advisors and scholars and to engage in departmental, college, and professional service.
Doctorate in sociology or criminology required for tenure and promotion. Strong preference for doctoral degree by August 2022; ABD candidates will be considered. Evidence of effective teaching at the college level is also required. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to implementing the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout their work at Meredith College.
Meredith offers a B.A. in Sociology, a B.A. in Criminology, and an M.A. in Criminal Justice.
