Assistant/Associate Professor of Sociology Position: Tennessee State University
Tennessee State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor rank in sociology beginning August 2021. Teaching responsibilities are primarily at the undergraduate level. The standard teaching load is twelve (12) credit hours per semester. The most desirable fields include medical sociology, urban sociology, and race and ethnic relations. Some combination of the following skills/experiences is also desirable: online teaching experience, leadership experience, experience working with diverse community organizations, experience or interest in community-based research methods, and GIS. The successful candidate is expected to engage in research, scholarship, and public service (outreach) activities in the Department of Sociology and the College of Liberal Arts. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in sociology by the time of appointment and have excellent oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have and maintain a strong background in working with a culturally diverse student population; demonstrated potential for/success in grantsmanship, research, and publication; and collegial personality and work habits.
