Committees

I want to serve on an SSS committee.   Who do I contact?

The President-Elect makes all appointments to committees for the following year, with a few exceptions.   The name and contact information for the President-Elect can be found on our website here.   Click on “downloadable full list of SSS officers.”   Membership on the Executive Committee and the Publication Committee is by election, and members on the Finance Committee and Site Selection committee must meet eligibility requirements as prescribed in the By-laws.   You can nominate a person for election to the Executive Committee or Publication Committee (including self-nominations) by contacting the Vice President-Elect.

Who is eligible to serve on a committee?

Any regular member of the Society is eligible to serve on most appointed committees.   A regular member is anyone whose dues are current and who has regular member status (i.e., not a student or associate member).

Who is eligible to run for office?

Any regular member whose dues are current and who held regular membership for the two years previous is eligible to run for office.   If you want to nominate someone for office, and you do not know if they meet these criteria, contact the Secretary-Treasurer.
